"The Compliments": the band with style

Reading time: 5 minutes

In this interview, the band The Compliments tells us a bit about their feel for the audience and why every gig with them feels like a family reunion.

Would you please tell us something about "The Compliments", how did you and your colleagues meet?

We met 12 years ago and quickly realized that we share the same passion - music. A short time later in 2007 we started "The Compliments" to bring joy to people with our music. So next year we will celebrate our 10th anniversary!

Congratulations! This is not a matter of course. The band carries the slogan "The Compliments - The band with style". What gives your band that certain something?

Our program is very diverse. Through our many years of experience and our good sense for our audience, we quickly find the right combination of music for the events. We consciously refrain from Ballermann-Schlager or beer tent music, we also don't have hard rock in our repertoire, which distinguishes us from many other wedding and party bands. Nevertheless, we can really "heat up" our audience - just with stylish party music, fat sound, great voices, exact, polyphonic choir singing and a lot of fun and good mood!

"The Compliments" perform from trio to quintet in very versatile lineups. For which event are the different line-ups best suited?

For small events such as vernissages, opening ceremonies or birthdays, our small lineups duo and trio are suitable. The advantage is that we then need quite little space but still have no loss of sound. The quartet and quintet are excellent for weddings, company parties and galas. Duo to quartet is also available as an unplugged variant, which brings a nice change at weddings, for example, when we arrange the champagne reception acoustically, for example, only with guitar and vocals. We also offer music for the wedding ceremony, usually as a duo (singer with guitar or piano). Each performance is like a small family reunion.

Of course, this allows for very versatile performances and events. What are your favorite events to play at?

Actually with everyone, making music is always a great joy for us! And this joy also jumps over to the audience. Music is for us profession and vocation! Each event is different and has something beautiful for itself.

Which performance or feedback are you particularly proud of, what was your personal highlight?

We had the honor to play at a gala in a renowned hotel, hosted by Joachim Llambi (from the jury of the TV show "Let's Dance"). It was a wonderful evening with beautiful dancing and many nice people. It was an all-around successful event with a lot of praise for our music.

That sounds fantastic, of course! What do you personally appreciate about your band?
The best thing about our band is that we not only appreciate each other very much professionally but have also become very good friends over the years. So every gig is like a little family reunion ;-) And at our events we include all guests.
Then we wish you continued success and fantastic performances and thank you for the nice interview!
